AHS Plant Sale – 18 May 2025

A big thank you to everyone who supported the AHS plant sale on the 18th May, held at the front of 4 Empress Avenue.  All the plants sold were grown by our AHS members. A steady flow of customers came throughout the three hours – despite the cooler cloudy weather. Eliza Wilson,  local plant seller, supported the sale by bringing her van of plants to sell and giving a generous donation.  All in all a massive £938.21 was raised for Cancer Research.

Starting a New Garden

At our meeting on the 15th May, four members of the AHS Committee made presentations on new gardens.

First, Ruth Martin shared the development of changes she had made to her back garden by reducing lawn area to increase the planting area.

Next was Jane Karavasili. Having moved into her house two years ago, Jane has taken up the concreted front and back gardens to produce beautifully planted areas.

Rosemarie Coffey then showed how a space situated on a main junction of the Lakehouse Estate, has been developed with the help of volunteers.

Finally, Jane Batey filled us in on the history of the Aldersbrook Medical Centre Garden.
